TV Can Drown Out Gods Voice

TV is one difference between the happier America of 60 plus years ago that I lived in and the America of today. I challenge you to try watching less TV and giving more time to God. I promise you He will reward that. Turning the TV on is like telling God: Don*t call me I*ll call you. There is some Christian programming on TV but most of the time turning the TV on is like saying to God what Felix said to Paul.

Acts 24:25: And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

God was speaking to Felix through Paul and Felix said what he said to Paul AND to God. Sometimes when I feel like turning the TV on I ask myself this question: Do I want to hear from God or from someone else? I expect I am pretty much like you. There is a little of Felix in all of us. My heart wants to hear from God and my flesh wants to give heed to His enemies. All the electronic devices we have today are in the same category with TV.

Give some thought to what a horrible blunder it is to send God away, especially when He wants to speak to us. He wants to speak to us from Heaven, through conscience, the creation, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, the Prophets, His Son, the still small voice, meditation, still times, preachers and in divers manners. TV can drown out God*s voice and often does.

Hebrews 12:25: See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Romans 1:18-20: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

1 Timothy 4:1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Hebrews 1:1-2: God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

1 Kings 19:12: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Psalms 119:99: I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

Psalms 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Romans 10:14: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

We will all better off if the remote control is in God*s control. Or perhaps we should keep the remote control far away and God close at hand.

Jeremiah 23:23: Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?

Acts 17:27-28: That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
