TV Is Destructive
It comes between us and God. It keeps us from loving Him and keeps His love from reaching us. It keeps us from relationships with real people. It keeps us from loving them and them from loving us. It eats up our time. It can eat up our lives. It can destroy our lives. It can destroy a nation. It deprives us of exercise. It can deprive us of rest. It can shorten our lives. It can deprive us of health. It keeps us from our responsibilities. It can control us. It can keep us from having a life of our own. It can keep us from accomplishments. It has been given to us by the most openly immoral individuals in our society, the worst examples we could possibly follow. It keeps us from serving God and others. It keeps us out of the Bible. It replaces prayer and meditation. It replaces God. It deprives us of fullness of joy and of the greatest and the longest-lasting pleasures.
Psalms 16:11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
It keeps us from enjoying God. It keeps us from spending time with Him and knowing Him.
John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
It does not lead us where the Bible will.Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
It will not provide multiplied grace and peace.
2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
It will not bring us to faith.
Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
It will stunt the spiritual growth of Christians.
1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
TV has been the most spiritually destructive element in my life. How about yours? These things can also be true of the multitude of computers and other electronic devices in our society. This could be and perhaps should be the longest article I will ever write. But then you probably wouldn*t read it. It might take time away from the TV.
