The Killer In Us
There is a killer in all of our hearts until we entrust them to the Lord. This killer destroys the best parts of our own lives a little at a time and, if unrestrained, it will eventually destroy our very lives. Slightly less often it destroys parts of the lives of others and sometimes destroys their lives. The killer was in me before I received Christ and I see it in unbelievers that I encounter. Blessedly the Lord restrained the killer in me to the extent that it only destroyed parts of my life and parts of the lives of others. I weep over what the killer did to me and through me and what it does to and through unbelievers. The killer*s name is sin.
Romans 6:23a: For the wages of sin is death; . . .
Matthew 15:19: For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
The only thing that can expunge that killer from our hearts and purify them is the blood of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:5: . . . And from Jesus Christ, . . . him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Acts 15:8-9: And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
What a wonderful thing it is when Jesus removes the war-like killer from our hearts. He alone can remove the destroyer of our lives and replace it with His life-preserving peace.
John 10:10b: . . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
