The Lord Owns Me

And He owns you too. Does that truth trouble you or make you glad?

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

2 Timothy 2:19b: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. . . .

Because He owns us He is entitled to do with us whatever He wants. He has a right to our obedience and service. He deserves our faith. He has a right to ignore what our flesh wants. He has a right to judge us. He has a right to chastise us and correct us. He has a right to take our lives because He gave them. He has a right to throw us on the garbage-heap of Hell. He has a right to regenerate us into people that please Him. He has a right to have us live a life that pleases Him. He has a right to live in our hearts and He has a right to be in charge of our lives.

He owns us for more than one reason. He owns us because He created us.

Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The fact that God owns them rankles many unbelievers. They do not want to live as if He owns them. Evolutionists deny that they were created by Him and therefore convince themselves that He has no rights over them. Atheists believe that there is no God and that no one created them. When they believe there is no God they convince themselves that He does not own them.

He doubly owns Christians because He has recreated them bought them with the blood of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Peter 1:18-19: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Corinthians 6:19 : What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

There are a lot of good and positive things about belonging to the Lord. He blesses His own in this life and He will take them to Paradise.

When I received Jesus I was receiving His ownership of me. If any believe that they can receive a Jesus who does not own them they believe in a false non-existent Jesus. They have an idol. When I received Jesus I was not a very powerful witness but some of the members of the church I had belonged to were deeply troubled by it. I began reading my Bible every day. I told a few of them that I had received Jesus and been born again. While I was not a very good witness the Holy Spirit who was in me was dealing with many of them in ways that I was not aware of at the time. He was making them uncomfortable. My changed life reduced the credibility of their belief in baptismal regeneration. Most of them did not read their Bibles every day. None of them had had their lives changed in any significant way by the Lord as I had. The Pastor of the church ordered me to leave the others alone. He did not want me telling members of that church that I had received Jesus and that was how I had been born again. I still pray for him and for the members of that church from time to time. Most of them do not live as if the Lord owns them.

You will be greatly blessed when you realize that He owns you and when you live like He does. And you will not be so blessed when you live like He does not own you.
