This Is The Will Of God
2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 Thessalonians 4:3: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
Salvation, repentance and sanctification are the will of God. Perhaps we should list them in this order: salvation, repentance, sanctification and eternal salvation. We must not believe that we can have one without the others. His ultimate goal, which will certainly be accomplished, is to present the church and its members to Himself a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish. Repentance means turning from our own will to God*s will. Sanctification means living in God*s will instead of our own. Our flesh would like to get to His ultimate goal without repentance and sanctification. That would be somewhat like trying to climb a flight of stairs with only a bottom step and a top one but no middle steps and no handrails or walls to support us and keep us from falling out of His will on the way up. That is a poor illustration because it only sees from our point of view and omits the fact of God*s keeping and completing work. The steps, rails and walls are there even though we may not want to see them or use them.
John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 17:19: And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Ephesians 5:24: Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
1 Thessalonians 4:4: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: 6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. 7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. 9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. 10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; 11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
2 Corinthians 6:15: And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
1 Peter 1:5: Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
