Throwing Your Life Down A Rat Hole

I threw 43 years of my life down a rat hole. By that I mean that I lived primarily for self for 43 years. Then I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus. I intended the surrender to be 24/7 for the rest of my life. Then I discovered that my heart was the only part of me that surrendered. My flesh never surrendered. My flesh will never surrender. My flesh is incapable of surrendering. It sometimes tries to deceive me into believing that it too is surrendered. While the flesh will never surrender it can be brought under control.

1 Corinthians 9:27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So now I no longer throw all of my life down the rat hole. I just throw the times down the rat hole when I am carnal, the times when I do not pay attention to the Lord, the times when I do not seek to please Him. The times when I do pay attention to the Lord and try to please Him do not go down a rat hole. They are laid up in heaven.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Galatians 5:14: For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Since God will supply everything we need we should strive to meet the needs of others just as strenuously as we strive to meet our own.
