Too Dumb To Make Decisions

You are too dumb to make decisions. Before you get your nose out of joint, I must tell you that I am also too dumb to make decisions. No matter how intelligent we might be, God is more intelligent. No matter how wise we are, God is wiser. In order to make the wisest decisions we would have to know things that only God knows. We don*t know what we will need tomorrow or even in five minutes. He knows.

James 4:14a: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. . . .

1 Corinthians 1:20, 25: Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world. . . . 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

1 Corinthians 2:5-16: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man*s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:19: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

Job 5:13: He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

Proverbs 21:30: There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Do you know people who seem to make nothing but bad decisions? They are not consulting the Lord. How many bad decisions do you make? How many decisions do you make without consulting God? I unwisely make many bad decisions without consulting Him.

Ephesians 3:17-19: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

1 Corinthians 2:16b: . . . But we have the mind of Christ.

We who have received Jesus into our hearts have access to the wisest mind that exists, the mind of God. Are we seeking His advice? And, of course, His guidance to us personally will never disagree with the guidance He gives in the Bible. The better we know what the Bible says, the better we will be able to recognize His advice.

Before we received Jesus, making a right decision was like a happy accident. But it really was God squeezing us into a right decision in spite of our ignorance.
