Isaiah 58:6-11: Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? 8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. 9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
If the voice of God and His continual guidance were available to the people of Israel, how much more are they available to us who are sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Luke 11:13: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
The continual guidance of God is the most precious commodity we can have in this life. He wants to make it available freely. And yet it is the most wasted precious commodity. We don*t seek His guidance. Our flesh wants to go its own way. We have that problem in common with the people of Israel.
Isaiah 58:13-14: If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
We can be bountifully blessed if we can learn that doing God*s pleasure and speaking what He wants us to speak will give us greater and longer-lasting pleasure than going our own way, finding our own pleasure and speaking our own words. Pleasing God is the purpose for which He created us.
Revelation 4:11: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Isaiah 43:7: Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Deuteronomy 5:33a: Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, . . .
When we make something or purchase something for some purpose and it does not accomplish that purpose it does not please us. Same thing with God. Wanting their own way is what keeps individuals from receiving Jesus. And the sad and simple truth is that we believers don*t have God*s continual guidance because our flesh wants its own way and we too often go along with our flesh. We forget to ask for His guidance and sometimes we forget on purpose. We men are noted for not reading directions. Men and women are alike in that they don*t study the Bible (God*s directions) until they become desperate and maybe not even then.
Psalms 16:11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
