What Constitutes A Good Man

Matthew 12:35: A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

We men have our own standards by which we decide who is a good man and who is not. But our standards are corrupt. The only one who is able to know absolutely who is a good man is God. He has His own standards as to what constitutes a good man and what constitutes an evil man. A good man is one that God says is good and an evil man is one that He says is evil. He defines a good man as one who has received Christ, has become a son of God, has Christ in his heart, is a new creature in Christ and is on his way to Heaven.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Colossians 1:27: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

It is impossible for men to make themselves good. Only God can do that.

Jeremiah 13:23: Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Job 14:4: Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Matthew 19:24-26: And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

There are no good men whom God has not made good.

Romans 3:12: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

The men that God characterizes as good will be filled with the Holy Spirit, walking in the Holy Spirit and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Romans 8:1, 4: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16, 25: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
