When I Am Right About Myself

When I am right about myself I have a chance to get right with God.

Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

When I knew that I was lost, it was the only time in my life that I was right about myself. When I learned that Jesus was my only hope I received Him.

Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

As long as I believed that there was any other hope I rejected Him. Every other hope was false.

Ephesians 2:12: That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Having no hope and without God in the world. That was me. But now I have a blessed hope.

Titus 2:11-13: For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Even though I am saved, the only time I am right about myself is when I agree with what God knows about me. When I am right about myself now my opinion will be reflected in this passage.

Psalms 139:23: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

He knows that He has purified my heart and I know it.

Acts 15:8-9: And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

But He also knows that my flesh is sinful and I know it. He knows of the struggle between my heart and my flesh and I know it.

Romans 8:7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

He knows that it is only the Holy Spirit who lives within me that can defeat my sinful flesh and I know it.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

I must decide many times every day whether to walk in the Spirit or fulfill the lust of the flesh. When I am right about myself I choose to walk in the Spirit. My simple definition of walking in the flesh: Sinning. My simple definition of walking in the Spirit: Not sinning.

Romans 7:24-25: O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

Psalms 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Psalms 37:24: Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

When I am right about myself I know that I need His hand to hold me up and order my steps every step of the way.
