When I Fail To Love
When I fail to love God or others unselfishly there is something amiss between me and the Holy Spirit of God. Specifically, I am walking in the flesh, I am fulfilling the lust of the flesh, I am grieving the Holy Spirit, I am quenching the Holy Spirit, I am not confessing and forsaking my sin, I am not seeking the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, I am not submitting myself to Him, I am not resisting the Devil, I am not studying my Bible and probably all of the above. When I fail to love it is always my fault.
Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Ephesians 5:9: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:19: Quench not the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Luke 11:13: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
James 1:5: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
James 4:7: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Psalms 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
We believers can apply these same truths to every fruit of the Spirit: when I have no joy, when I have no peace, when I am impatient, when I am not gentle, when I am not good, when I lack faith, when I am not meek, when I am intemperate, when I am unrighteous and when I am not truthful. This is not to say that we will not have sorrow over the difficulties of others or that we will not be grieved over sin, our own and that of others. Unbelievers ALWAYS resist the Holy Spirit. If you always resist Him you are in great danger.
Acts 7:51: Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
John 10:16: And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
